Truth Statements
Before discussing a topic, ask individuals or several small groups to decide on 3 things they know to be true about a particular issue. This is useful when introducing a new topic which students think they know well, but where their assumptions need to be examined.
On-campus
The activity takes about 10 minutes to complete and could be done with more than 60 students in an on-campus setting.

Supplies Needed
- A place to write down the statements
- Optional: Wooclap
Set-up Classroom
Students work together in groups, so a classroom with tables grouped together could be suggested.
Step 1. (Preparation)
Optional: Create a Wooclap presentation with an open-ended question where students can hand in their statements.
Step 2. (During class)
Inform students about the assignment and which new topic they have to think about. Keep the introduction brief, so there a lot of blanks to fill (e.g. a historical event/timeframe). When working in groups, group students together.
Step 3. (During Class)
Let students think about true statements about this new topic.
Step 4. (Evaluation)
Let students provide their answers oral or through Wooclap. Discuss their assumptions and correct when wrong. Provide key-notes to take home and start introducing the topic.

Create a Teams in Microsoft Teams. When students work together, provide them seperate channels or use break-out-rooms.
Optionally: Using a Virtual Classroom could be suggested, due to its elaborate technical options.

Set-up Classroom
Using a hybrid classroom is suggested. For the online students you have to create a Teams in Microsoft Teams. On-campus a classic U-shape set-up will do. The two groups are not able to collaborate, so on-campus and online work seperatly.
Optionally: Using a Hybrid Active Learning Classroom could be suggested. Due to its set-up it supports collaborating between on-campus and online students easily.
