Wisdom from Another

The goal is to let students evaluate their knowledge by sharing their work with a peer after an individual brainstorm. The student gets feedback. The peer will present their partners work. Students are often more willing to share the work of fellow students publicly than their own work.

On-campus

This activity takes about 10 – 30 minutes. This could be used as a blended learning activity.

Manual

Supplies needed

  • Students could use their own laptop or you could hand out pen and paper

Set-up classroom

Set-up a classroom in a way students can easily work together in pairs.

Step 1. (Preparation)

Prepare a topic/statement/question/problem students need to brainstorm about.

Step 2. (During class)

Let students brainstorm for a certain period of time.

Optional step

Make the activity blended by letting the students brainstorm in advance at home and let them take the results to class.

Step 3. (During class)

Students pair up together with a peer and discuss the results of their brainstorm. It is important to let students provide feedback to their peer, so they evaluate their findings.

Step 4. (During class)

Teacher asks students to present the findings of their partner.

Step 5. (Evaluation)
